oddscholarships I’ve received some e-mails from a number of people that told me that going undergraduate to study social work is their dream but finances are the obstacle. I wanted to mention that there are also some odd scholarships aka weird scholarships as well as traditional ones. What do I mean by this? Well, there’s some for people that are left-handed for example. At Vassar there’s a scholarship for someone willing to change their middle name to Huntington

Not known to many, there are quite a number of scholarship grants that are very uncommon and some may seem odd, but you have to remember that people like to identify with those with similar backgrounds or interests and reward them. Of course, some are just daredevil types of scholarships as well.

Many of these can be applied for even if you are not that exceptional academically. It encourages more individuals as they won’t feel intimidated . For instance there are scholarships from the New York-based Parapsychology Foundation so if you have an interest in the paranormal or life after death this may make you eligible. Another one is for star trek fans from the Klingon language institute. There are also niche scholarships for those who promote the goodness of being a vegetarian and love for animals. These types of scholarships can be a fun way to have a scholarship for yourself or your children without the hassle of formal qualifications and procedures.

Of course, go the traditional route as well. Ask your college officials to provide you the list of scholarships available within the university. You can also opt to refer to the organizations dedicated to the things that you like doing, as they may have programs that appeals to you as well. Get yourself updated by surfing the internet. It won’t hurt to be extra resourceful when looking for odd scholarships online. There are really innumerable ones around, you just have to be patient and be determined.
