I am glad that lefties are getting some acknowledgement finally. We really do have disadvantages having to adjust to a righty world. Everything is designed for righties in our world.

I've been thinking about going to social work school in Manhattan and know Hunter is very competitive. It seems like the perfect place to learn and get the msw because of the diverse population. Not sure though if I can get in.

I know my company does give funding to employees going back to school in the form of scholarships but they don't advertise it. You need to go to the HR department or talk to your supervisor because a lot of companies keep their financial aid gifts behind closed doors to avoid too many inquiries in this economy. But they are there.

One obstacle for many single moms returning to school is fear. My mom did it and she was petrified but it taught me that you can face fears and succeed. She did get some scholarship money but now there are many more available than when I was a teenager.

I know the Obama Education Stimulus has opened up some options. I think part of it is the American Opportunity Credit. It can cover tuition, books, computer supplies and course materials. It is good to see the new administration is doing something to help out students and single moms attending college.

I hope Obama will make more opportunities for minority group single moms and other groups who want to attend college. Education is what has helped him become who he is today. Someone told me there is something called the Sunshine Lady Foundation for single moms that need college scholorship funds so this is something I am telling my aunt about. Also, with loans if you declare bankruptcy you can't write student loans off so it is good to look for as much scholarship money as possible.

I am trying to get my aunt to apply for a scholorship for mothers because she has been so busy doing for everyone else and working. It is good there is money for single moms as this is a very difficult situation and often it seems hard to ever see how to get ahead. Someone told her that the Pell Grant might be an option too.

When I first got out of school I found a job counseling kids at a youth center online at a job site so I know at least my old boss used that method to find employees. He wasn't someone that liked the phone. Also sometimes the NASW newsletter lists social work jobs in their print newsletter section in the back. If you need a supervisor you can usually look there too to find one.

Ha . That is funny about duct tape. My sister is doing an application for a cooking scholarship. I forgot what company it is but they give 1000 dollars scholarships to incoming freshman. My sister loves to cook so maybe she'll get some college money.
